Press Release

Fremont, Ohio, May 6, 2024 – Sierra Lobo, Inc. (SLI), of Fremont, Ohio, with operations throughout the U.S. (including Huntsville, Alabama), and Xplora Srl of Parma, Italy, are pleased to announce they have entered into a teaming agreement to provide a drone-mounted Remote Mine Detection System (RMDS) for the U.S. Government and the Department of Defense (DOD) markets. The SLIX™ RMDS is composed of an unmanned aerial vehicle, sensor suite, communications package, AI/ML-based software, and interface/integration processor – the system that detects land mines in real time. SLIX™ RMDS has been successfully demonstrated to International Defense and Law Enforcement Agencies and demonstrated with U.S. DOD representatives for capability and performance. SLI’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), George A. Satornino, stated, “We are proud to announce our agreement with Xplora and the ability to bring SLIX™ RMDS for land mine detection that supports our Warfighters and offers great capability for humanitarian purposes. Our agreement with Xplora allows for the SLIX™ RMDS to enter the Warfighter tool chest almost immediately and can provide aid to war-torn areas in need of land mine detection quickly and safely.”  Marco Pesci, CEO of Xplora Srl, expressed similar satisfaction: “We are delighted to finalize this collaboration agreement with Sierra Lobo Inc. that brings its operational expertise to the SLIX™ RMDS solution for the American market; primarily for the Government and the Department of Defense of the United States of America. Our objective is to deploy our technology in service of civilian populations affected by conflicts.”

SLI and Xplora will be participating in the U.S. Army Maneuver Support & Protection Integration eXperiments 2024 (MSPIX’24) at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in May 2024. The SLIX™ RMDS system for MSPIX’24 is composed of a Defense Innovation Unit (DUI) Blue List approved drone, commercial sensor suite, DOD approved communications system, SLIX™ Integration Processor, and associated ground station equipment. While SLIX™ RMDS is the initial entry for the U.S. market, SLI and Xplora are already investigating Next Generation capability for applications for enhanced explosive threat detection and identification, engineering & infrastructure, construction & real estate, energy infrastructure, and ground utilities arenas.
